No girl left behind!

KURIKAYO! WELCOME!

We Are Empowering Kitojo Girls For a Bright Future.

Kitojo Empowered Girls School (KEGS) is a non-profit organization located in South-West Uganda dedicated to empowering underprivileged girls, ages 3 to 12, by providing them with the education that they would otherwise not receive.

The girls’ education includes English, Mathematics, Science, Social studies, Reading, Writing, Women’s rights, and Interpersonal skills.

Kitojo Empowered Girls School is advised and supported by unpaid volunteers. The only paid positions are local personnel, namely, the ten teachers, the head-teacher, the school administrator, the director, the guard, and the two part-time cooks. The school is additionally supported and directed by a local Board of unpaid volunteers.

Sponsor A Girl

Our School for Empowered Girls currently takes care of 144 students who have a variety of needs including uniforms, shoes, food, educational materials, and essential travel between school and the village. There are also orphaned girls in need of housing at the school to keep them safe, fed, and provide a sustainable education. Become a sponsor and change a life for as little as $35 USD / month. Build a relationship with the girl you sponsor through getting to know her and receive updates on how she’s doing throughout the years. You have the opportunity to become a very important person in her life starting today!

Funding for Teachers

Our teachers are the heartbeat of this school. Their success is our girls success, and we need your support to be able to pay them. You can choose to sponsor a teacher’s salary ongoing, or donate to our teachers fund and help pay for their salaries. Our teachers salaries are a priority, as are so many other important aspects of keeping this dream alive. We are passionate about fostering a global network of Teachers who would like to be in connection with our Teachers, support them through mentorship via zoom, or even collaborate on the creation of new curriculum and further training. Did you know, if you are Teacher yourself, you can volunteer at our School and receive continuing education credits for your time with us? Find out more by clicking the button below!

Building The School

From building safe structures and increasing classrooms, to wiring electricity, and ensuring both adequate clean water and computers for learning, there are many projects you can help support. We need your help to get the funding required to improve the quality of our education and our capacity. With your help, we can keep these girls out of the dangerous rock mining industry and help to change their future and those of generations to come. With your donation, you will receive updates on how the school is coming along and exactly what your generosity is helping to make possible.
